Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. very easy, nice, quick read. If only there was an adult edition, so the details were more in depth. I am expecting that in the future books though. Excellent story of course. The worst part about seeing a movie before the book is that the movie can play along in your head as you read the book. Destroys any creative imaginative story you would originally get from the book. I’m jealous of those who read it before the movies. Kudos to you.
There are more traps to get to the sorcerer stone in the book than in the movie. BAHH!
Devil’s Snare, Devil’s Snare. It likes the dark and the damp, so light a fire!
Don’t you call me an idiot!” said Neville. “I don’t think you should be breaking any more rules! and you were the one who told me to stand up to people!
Then a pain like he’d never felt before pierced his head; it was as though his scar were on fire. Half blinded, he staggered backward. He heard hooves behind him, galloping, and something jumped clean over harry, charging at the figure. The pain in Harry’s head was so bad he fell to his knees. It took a minute or two to pass.
It shows us nothing more or less than the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts. You, who have never known your family, see them standing around you. Ronald Weasley, who has always been overshadowed by his brothers, sees himself standing alone, the best of all of them. However, this mirror will give us neither knowledge or truth. Men have wasted away before it, entranced by what they have seen, or been driven mad, not knowing if what it shows is real or even possible.
Let me explain. The happiest man on earth would be able to use the mirror of Erised like a normal mirror, that is, he would look into it and see himself exactly as he is.
The potters smiled and waved at Harry and he stared hungrily back at them, his hands pressed flat against the galss as though he was hoping to fall right through it and reach them. He had a powerful kind of ache inside him, half joy, half terrible sadness.
Troll — in the dungeons — thought you ought to know.” Professor Quirrell
This,” said wood, “is the Golden Snitch, and it’s the most important ball of the lot. It’s very hard to catch because it’s so fast and difficult to see. It’s the seeker’s job to catch it. You’ve got to weave in and out of the Chasers, Beaters, Bludgers, and Quaffle to get it before the other team’s seeker, because whichever seeker catchs the Snitch wins his team an extra hundred and fifty points, so they nearly always win. That’s why seekers get fouled so much. A game of Quidditch only ends when the Snitch is caught, so it can go on for ages — I think the record is three months, they had to keep bringing substitutes so the players could get some sleep.
Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald
or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling
with some interesting stuff,
For now they’re bare and full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we’ve forgot,
Just do your best, we’ll do the rest
And learn until our brains all rot.
Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart, their daring, nerve and chivalry set Gryffindors apart.
Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal, those patient hufflepuffs are true and unafraid of toil.
Ravenclaw
Wise and old. If you’ve a ready mind, where those of wit and learning, will always find their kind.
Slytherin,
Where you’ll make your real friends, those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends.
Maybe they had to try and get a rabbit out of it, Harry thought wildly, that seemed the sort of thing — noticing that everyone in the hall was now staring at the hat, he stared at it, too. For a few seconds there was complete silence. Then the hat twitched. A rip near the brim opened wide like a mouth — and the hat began to sing.
What she did have were Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, Drooble’s Best Blowing Gum, Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, Licorice Wands and a number of strange things Harry had never seen in his life.
